Milk and dairy products are related to certain skin disorders and known to be acidic-forming foods that may lead to an acidic body. Cutting out dairy products such as milk, cheese, butter and ice cream for a couple of weeks may therefor be a game changer when it comes to improving your skin health. Chances are that skin issues like acne will clear up in a heartbeat. Dairy may also lead to low production of collagen and elastin, which is essential for healthy skin.
Try substituting dairy products with almond, coconut or rice milk, coconut yoghurt and cashew cheese.

A well functioning digestive system along with healthy bowel movements is key to maintain healthy and beautiful skin long term. What goes on in your digestive system will very likely show up on your skin.
A few tips to improve digestion:
• Chew your food properly
• Do not rush while eating
• Make sure you eat enough fibre: oats, vegetables, fruit, chia seeds, psyllium husk and nuts
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day
• Support a healthy gut flora by taking good quality probiotics daily and eating fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kefir and Kimchi

By consuming healthy EFA ́s like omega 3 you are helping the body ́s ability to reduce inflammation that may be contributing to acne, eczema, rosacea and psoriasis. Our bodies simply cannot manufacture these so eating the right foods or supplements is necessary to prevent your skin from looking dry, dull and irritated.
Eat more of these anti-inflammatory foods: Salmon, mackerel, trout, sardines, herring, tuna, flaxseed oil, linseeds, chia seeds, walnuts and leafy greens.

Ditch the simple and refined carbohydrates and focus on complex carbohydrates with a low GI and a high fibre content.
5. AVOID GLUTEN CONTAINING FOODS
If you are celiac or gluten intolerant on any level this will over time create inflammation in your body, leaving your skin to suffer. Most skin issues are related to inflammation and therefor eliminating gluten may be beneficial. I suggest using buckwheat, quinoa, brown rice or amaranth instead of gluten containing grains like wheat, barley and rye.
If you suspect having issues digesting gluten I always recommend getting a proper food intolerance test done by a health practitioner.
6. EAT PLENTY OF BEAUTY FOODS
Eat plenty of nourishing whole foods that feeds your skin from the inside and out. This will alkalize your body along with making your skin looking healthy and beautiful.
Vegetables are the top priority, especially the ones that are rich in chlorophyll, antioxidants, zinc, vitamin C and A. Eat plenty of leafy greens, carrots, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, berries, nuts, seeds, lean protein and eggs.
I cannot stress enough how important hydration is to your body and organs in order for it to function properly. This goes for your skin as well! Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is therefor key. Aim for at least 2 liter filtered water every day.
